Engine block

Heavy loads and vibration

Balancer shafts are designed to reduce vibration, particularly in inline four-cylinder engines. Due to the asymmetry of their design, these engines have an inherent second order vibration that cannot be eliminated no matter how well the internal components are balanced.

Crankshafts are designed to convert the up and down motion of the pistons into horizontal rotation. Loads can be heavy, particularly in diesel or turbocharged engines.

Handle your requirements

SKF can help designers address these and other engine block operating issues. See the SKF solutions below to see how they can help reduce vibration and extend reliability for balancer shafts and crankshafts.
