Women Empowerment at SKF India

At the heart of SKF Employee Care, there is "Diversity" and at the heart of diversity lies equality. SKF strongly believes that the more diverse our business teams are, the more competitive we are in meeting our customers' needs. This is because SKF's knowledge is built on the knowledge, experiences and competences our employees possess.

SKF India not only promote diversity among employees, but have also extended it to positively influencing the neighbouring society. As a part of its Community Care initiatives, SKF promotes women empowerment by awarding educational scholarships to women for pursuing higher education in the field of science and engineering. Another important program is promoting holistic development of girls through sports activities.

Less than 6% of girls pursue their higher education, this translate into challenges for companies such as SKF in pursuing higher diversity between men and women.

SKF India through its community project provides education scholarships to 100 underprivileged women in the field of science and engineering. Among these, 50 girls are pursuing their graduation and 50 are pursuing post-graduation courses. This scholarship helps them to continue the. SKF college campus in Pune is hosting several trainings on site in addition to theoretical knowledge, such as interview techniques, communication, self-defence among others. 

SKF also regularly organizes visits to SKF’s factory Pune, to give the participants firsthand experience in the manufacturing sector, to further facilitate careers in the engineering field.
